Mindfulness
“When we are mindful, deeply in touch with the present moment, our understanding of what is going on deepens, and we begin to be filled with acceptance, joy, peace and love.”
~ Thich Nhat Hanh
~ Tara Brach

Mindfulness is the quality of being fully present in the moment, aware of our surroundings, thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations, without judgement, over-reaction, or overwhelm. While this may sound intimidating or unreachable at first, it is an ability that is available to all. With practice, we can all become more comfortable with our everyday experiences and better able to access inner calm despite what might be happening in our world. Imagine being able to deeply experience our joyful moments and stay calm and present through our challenges. This is the reality that cultivating mindfulness can create.
Practicing mindfulness has been proven through research to reduce stress, improve physical health, lower blood pressure, improve sleep, improve memory and focus, improve interpersonal relationships, and help in managing depression and anxiety. When taught by a trauma-informed teacher, it can help decrease dissociation and improve emotional regulation. While it is not a cure-all, it is a proven, safe, and accessible method of healing and personal growth.
Opportunities for learning and practicing mindfulness are everywhere! If you have a few minutes a day to follow a guided meditation, or simply to stop and be present in the moment, you can practice mindfulness. Whether you prefer to learn by yourself or in a group, you will find something that meets your needs at Soulful Harmony LLC.
